DragonBallZ: Lessons
When I was a kid I watched a lot of Television, then in all
those television watching days, the best times were 5p.m during the weekdays. I
think other fellow ‘former kids’ will agree with me on this, 5p.m weekdays,
come rain or sunshine, you have to sit your behind in front of the TV and tune
in SABC 2. Because it was time for Dragon-Dragon, Dragon-Dragon, DragonBallZ…
I don’t care if the world was coming to an end or Jesus was out on the streets
handing out free holy water, if the time is 5p.m, your behind is in front of
the TV.
We really wasted a lot of time in front of that box, our
childhoods, gone… But not really, it just hit me recently that not really… We didn’t
waste our time, we were just not listening and analysis the show correctly. Well,
now that I am almost grown up, are a few things I learnt from DBZ:
1. There is greatness within you
If y’all remember, Goku grew up an ordinary boy who was just
good at martial arts, he married Chi-Chi and had a son. That’s a normal life
right, so he was pretty much a mediocre guy, nothing special. Less did he know
that there was greatness in him. That he was a siayan and had powers beyond his
imagination, until push came to shove [Raditz].
So it’s the same with you, you will never, [clears throat],
YOU WILL NEVER know just how GREAT you are if you stay in your comfort-zone,
NEVER EVER... So with every rising sun I beg you to challenge yourself to do
something new, take risks, do something you’re not comfortable doing. It’s such
decisions that turn into greatness… you will not get different results from
doing the same thing every day [wake up,
eat, go to work/school, come back, watch TV and sleep].
I know, I know, it’s easier to play it safe, but at what
cost??? If it means you have to lose your greatness and not be your optimal
best, it’s not f*cken worth it. Find your dreams where ever you stash them,
dust those madafuckers up and begin working on them.
BE GREAT!!! BE GREAT!!!
BE GREAT!!!
If you think you have dreams and they do not scare you when
you thing about then and where they are taking you, apparently you are not
aiming at YOUR GREATNESS, you’re still playing it safe... A very brilliant
Kwaito star said this: “Uzoy’thola kanjani uhleli ekoneni”
At one stage my girlfriend told me that “wealth in at the grave yard”, I really didn’t
get this line back then but my pride wouldn’t allow me to ask a woman to
explain, me being an African Man and stuff… I thought she meant some dude must
have buried huge amounts of treasure in some grave yard, kanti no, YOU and ME,
we are the treasure, if we die and we have not shown the world our GREATNESS,
we surely would have fail, we might as well have not been born, we just came
here to waste oxygen.
LET’S BE GREAT!!!
2. 7 Dragon balls
In DBZ, I learnt that if you want something, you have to be
prepared to work for it, you have to give it your all, it will take time but if
you don’t give up, it will happened.
In the series, the concept was simple, collect 7 magical
balls, call out the Dragon and get your wish. Unfortunately, for us, it’s is
not that well defined, because our dreams are not the same, the work we have to
put in them is different, but at least we know we have to work for what we
want. There’s a lot going on behind the line “easy come, easy go”…
Some folks prefer to pray for things to happened, some wish
upon a shooting star, am not sure how well those workout but I can guarantee
you that I am 99.9% certain that if you do not work for something, it will not
come to you. [I am not an anti-Christ or something]
So what you want to do now is define the “7 Dragon Balls” of
your dream, collect them one by one, I promise you, when they are all in front
of you, a dragon will appear and grant you your hearts deepest desires. We are
not in a cartoon show, so YOU are the DRAGON, awaken that dragon spirit within
you and go claim your GREATNESS!!!
3. King Kai’s place
In the series, I don’t know how many times Goku dies, but he
has always found a way to come back and conquer the villain. This means that
when you fail at something, it’s not over… IT IS NOT OVER… Get up, dust
yourself and get back on the saddle. If you give up you will remain there, but
if you try again and again eventually something will surely happened.
One of the important things about trying “again and again” is that you have to
learn from your mistakes, Albert Einstein said: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different
results is madness”. So what you what to do is to learn from your mistakes and
change your approach methodology until you find the one that works.
4. I won’t even begin what it mean to be a SUPER SAIYAN!!! and the number of levels there is to being a super saiyan. Just know that you are a being of unlimited power.
In closing, Tai Lopez suggest that
this is how you should divide your time and attention:
- Spend 33% with people that are below you, this will help you feel good about yourself, give you that mental reboot and state of appreciation, because you will be their mentor and teach them what you know, trust me, it feels good when someone looks up to you.
- The other 33% with people the same level as you, these are your friends, you guys will converse about dreams and ideas and uplift each other, you might even end up working with each other to start a company, a band or something.
- Then the last 33% with people that are way ahead of you in life, both age and achievement wise. These are the people that will motivate you, they will guide you, these are your mentors, they are the goal posts you are shooting for, because these people have what you want and they can teach you how to get to it.
- Spend the remaining 1% with yourself, doing a hobby you love, read a book or catch a movie. Live your life, don’t worry that it’s only 1% now, later the sacrifices will pay off, later you will have the money and the time to spend with yourself…
Everyone wants the good life, but
only a few a prepared to put in what it takes, be the cream of the crop, BE
GREAT!!!
Wake up that Dragon in YOU!!! |
