Taking Life seriously

Brain Food

I know us as the youth are always interested and updated about current affairs, but my worry is that we are focusing on the wrong current affairs. Sport: Log, Fixture & Results. Celebrities: Their next album, who did who dis on whose track, beef, who are they sleeping with, who broke up with who. Facebook current affairs: Who is single, who is struggling, basically gossip. They are not wrong, the way we utilise our current affairs storage is wrong. 75% of Youth has they storage packed with the above-mentioned (guessed stat).

We as the youth have to find a balance, we also have to know how strong the Rand is (at the moment is R15.90 to $1 US), the interests rates, repo rate, prime rate, our governing cabinet (Minister’s, their deputies, Premiers, MEC, etc.). This is the type of information that empowers an individual and puts a person in a better position to take advantage of the current market and economy. For example, you will know when to buy shares, a house, when NOT to take credit, which credit is better at what state of the economy (do you go for a loan or for a credit card, or do you take from your bond, shit like). But that’s a story for another day, but now let me update you on one and its importance.

SONA (State of the Nation Address)

The State of The Nation Address will be held I Cape Town on the 11th of February 2016, I would love it if we as the youth watched and commented on the speech delivered to us South Africans by our Commander in Chief, the one and only Mr Jacob Ged Zuma. That speech is important because in contains factors that affect our daily lives, yes, believe it, that long speech affects how you live your life. A few of the topics covered are: Tax, Education, Health, Employment strategies, etc. So knowing the government’s plan will help you as an individual plan for the future.

There is a quote in my diary that goes:
By the time the fool has learned the game, the players have dispersed
so I am confident that none of the Optic-Generation-Youth are fools.

A quick examples, let’s say the President announces that The Department of Public Works will release posts and will employ 3500 members of the youth (18 years – 35 years) in October 2016. Imagine, you will know this piece of information 8 months in advance, so this means you will do your CV now and collect (and certify them, not satisfy). Plus there is enough time for you to do your research on The Department of Public Works about what kind of work they do and skills required for those jobs, then should you see you lack some of the skills or you could improve, you can take on short courses, volunteer at companies that will offer you relevant exposure, then in September 2016, you will polish you CV, hand it in the days the post opened, and with the new skilled you have harvested, you have just given yourself the advantage to get the job. As very wise man from the Unites States of America once said:

If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend four hours sharpening the axe
-Abraham Lincoln

So there is it my fellow Optic-Gen, let’s keep out axes sharp, ooBold, ooDays nooGenerations will definitely not sharpen you axe. Yaz, it’s sad to hear the youth say “I will do it xa kudlala indaba mama”… it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee, [as the youth] we have been lazy and complaining for a long time now, what has that got us?? I don’t know, but all I know the rich is getting richer and politician are getting fatter when I see them on TV.

Random Facts

For the "Herb" lovers

Good news coming your way, apparently a guy has open a Dagga Shop in the United States of America. His is now developing his place to have a Drive-thru. Imagine the money we would make in Eastern Cape if Dagga was legal, everyone knows we have pure Green-Gold at the Transkei’s East coast. Sure a few people will die, but the niggas remaining will have money to feed their families, ok i know its already happening, but should it be legalised, EC would go on large scale. HEY, MAMELA, I am not endorsing nor promoting the use of Dagga, just sharing “current affairs”. Check out the story at: http://mashable.com/2016/02/02/drive-thru-marijuana/#KVzCZfu.eaqj
